Chamber FAQs

Why Join the Chamber?

Active Chamber Members

Many of our members consider chamber membership as their primary business development strategy, taking advantage of all of the cost-effective networking and exposure opportunities it provides.

Inactive Chamber Members

Others join because they support the mission of chambers of commerce, understanding that a solid business community around them provides the foundation for existing and new business in a community.

What are we?

The chamber is a voluntary organization of the business and professional community uniting to improve the economy and build a better community. The overall objective is to ensure progressive and orderly economic development, in order to make our community a better place in which to live and work. The strength of the chamber is in its membership. The chamber organization enables the membership to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually.

What do we do?

The variety and scope of chamber activities is limited only by its membership. What the chamber does depends on the needs of the community and desire/ability of the membership to carry out the activities. The chamber has traditionally been the information agency of the area for both residents and visitors. The chamber represents and promotes the area’s economy and encourages business and industrial investments in order to broaden the tax base and provide employment. The chamber represents the community’s “front door” to business prospects and newcomers. It is also involved in education, human relations, environmental issues, as well as cultural and governmental concerns. The Wasilla Chamber is a viable force seeking solutions to the area’s economic and social problems.
