Matt DeBoer, Director at Large

Matanuska Electric Association

I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the GWCC Board of Directors! I grew up in northern Minnesota and have spent time throughout the years in Minnesota, North Dakota and Alaska. Our family relocated to the Palmer area in 2024, attracted by the lifestyle and location to raise our family in an area rife with opportunity to grow in our love for the outdoors while at the same time planting roots and growing professionally.

I bring 20 years of leadership experience, including 15 years combined experience in business development, organizational strategic planning, sales and operational leadership from Target stores and Vivie, a non-profit senior care and senior living provider in the Midwest. Currently, I am the Business Development Program Manager at Matanuska Electric Association. In this role I work with residential and commercial members as well as community stakeholders as a trusted energy advisor on a broad range of subjects.

On the personal side, I am married and we have two amazing children ages 10 and 8. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, hiking, fishing, hunting and flying. Prior to moving to the Valley, I was actively involved in our church and in several community organizations including United Way. I also taught an outdoor skills course for 6-12th graders alongside my wife and was an adjunct professor for the unmanned aerial vehicles program at Alexandria Technical & Community College in 2023 and 2024.

I look forward to the opportunity to utilize my experience to support and grow area businesses and promote economic development and networking opportunities within the communities that the Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce serves.
