The Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce is now accepting self-nominations for the Board of Directors.

Each year, Chamber members have the opportunity to help select the business and community leaders who will provide governance, oversight, and strategic direction for the organization. Before voting begins, we invite members who are interested in taking a more active leadership role within the Chamber to consider putting their name forward for Board service.
Self-nominations are open October 5 through November 24.
Could You Be One of Our Next Board Members?
Serving on the Greater Wasilla Chamber Board of Directors is an opportunity to help shape the direction of the Chamber while contributing your experience, perspective, and leadership to an organization focused on supporting Greater Wasilla’s business community.
The Board is responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the Chamber. Directors help establish organizational priorities, provide financial and organizational oversight, and ensure the Chamber remains focused on its mission and responsive to the needs of its membership.
Board members also serve as ambassadors for the Chamber, helping strengthen connections throughout our business community and supporting the programs, initiatives, advocacy, and partnerships that move our organization forward.
We encourage Chamber members from different industries, backgrounds, business sizes, and areas of expertise to consider Board service. A strong Board benefits from a range of perspectives and from Directors who are willing to actively participate in the work of the organization.
What Does Board Service Involve?
Serving on the Board is more than having your name listed as a Director. Board members are expected to be engaged participants in the governance and leadership of the Chamber.
Prospective candidates should be prepared to participate in Board meetings and planning, engage thoughtfully in organizational and financial oversight, support the Chamber’s mission and strategic direction, serve as ambassadors for the organization, and commit the time necessary to be effective members of the Board.
Before submitting a self-nomination, interested members should review the Board of Directors Job Description and Board Service Overview for additional information about responsibilities, expectations, and the commitment associated with serving.
